CONCURRENT COLLEGE ENROLLMENT POLICY

Concurrent college enrollment permits juniors/seniors to take courses for college credit while completing high school requirements for graduation. 

These guidelines listed below, affect the participation of students in concurrent enrollment. 

Steps required to establish concurrent enrollment:

  • Juniors must have an ACT composite of 21 with at least a 3.5 GPA. There is not an option for juniors to take the Accuplacer Test. 

  • Seniors must have an ACT composite of 19 or at least a 3.0 GPA. If needed,  they may take the Accuplacer Test.

  • Seniors must score a 19 on an ACT subject test in English, Mathematics, and Science to enroll into courses in those respective college-level subjects. Seniors scoring 19 or higher on the Reading ACT subject test covers all other courses and may enroll in other subjects. 

  • Juniors must score a 21 on an ACT subject test in English, Mathematics, and Science to enroll into courses in those respective college-level subjects. Juniors scoring 21 or higher on the Reading ACT subject test covers all other courses and may enroll in other subjects. 

  • Students may only enroll in online courses in extreme circumstances with administration’s approval. 

  • Students must take a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and a maximum of 19 credit hours per semester.  

  • If you fail a course(s), you are not allowed to re-enroll in any concurrent courses for a semester. You will also have to maintain a 3.5 GPA the following semester, to be able to concurrent enroll again. 

  • You must have your next semester's schedule turned in to the counselor by the end of the previous semester. If not, you will no longer be considered a concurrent student and you will have a full time schedule at Vian High School. 

  • Freshman Comp I and Freshman Comp II will not be allowed to replace Senior English. All seniors must take Senior English.

  • If you qualify and plan on taking concurrent classes, please fill out the enrollment packet. First time concurrent students will fill out the “New Concurrent Packet” and returning concurrent students will fill out “Permission Form-Returning Students.” Once the forms are complete, please email it to agarner@vian.k12.ok.us
