Dear Parents and Guardians,
Prioritizing the safety and health of the school community, the Oklahoma State Board of Education has suspended all in-school activities for the remainder of the school year in order to contain community spread of COVID-19. Beginning April 6, 2020, Vian Public Schools will begin distance learning for all students until the end of the school year on May 15, 2020. Our intent is to provide a positive academic experience for students without overwhelming parents, and to engage all students in learning, even those who may not have access to technology at home. Our distance learning plan is specifically designed for the needs of the students, families and faculty of Vian Public Schools and will encourage all students to continue to learn and grow even though our school buildings are closed.
With input from the community, teachers, principals, and the Oklahoma State Department of Education, we have developed a plan to implement distance learning by grade level. These plans will not replicate classroom instruction but will keep students engaged and on track to finish the school year. Please read the following points of our distance learning plan and discuss them to determine what is best for your student.
We know that this is not the way that we expected to finish the 2020 school year. However, in spite of all the many challenges that we are facing, our school community is standing together to provide learning and support to all students. We sincerely hope that you will communicate with your child’s teacher and embrace this new way of teaching and learning. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures and we are grateful for the support of our community as we continue to partner with you in the education of your child.
