THE GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS PROGRAM
For students entering college for the first time in the fall 2012, the GMS 2012 Scholarship Application online process is now open. The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday, January 11, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. EST

COOKSON HILLS ELECTRICAL COOP HERMAN DRISCOLL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  Parents must be member of Cookson Hills Electrical Coop. 4 - $500.00 scholarships Requirements are have good character, 2.0 GPA, good citizenship, financial need.  Due April 8, 2013.  See Mr. White for application.

McAlester Scottish Rite John T. Liebrand Memorial Scholarship . $1000.00  Based on need, and leadership.  Due April 1, 2013

OKLAHOMA COUNCIL OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS CITIZENSHIP ESSAY CONTEST.  This is an a 1,000 to 1,250 word essay on a topic on the application.  Due February 14, 2013.

Dell Scholars Scholarship.  Dell Scholars are students who demonstrate their desire and ability to overcome barriers and to achieve their goals. Your application will be evaluated on your:
- Individual determination to succeed
- Future goals and plans to achieve them
- Ability to communicate the hardships you have overcome or currently face
- Self motivation in completing challenging coursework
- Demonstrated need for financial assistance

To be eligible to apply for the Dell Scholars Program scholarship, you must meet the below listed criteria:
- Graduating from an accredited high school this academic year
- Earning a minimum of a 2.4 GPA
- Demonstrated need for financial assistance
- Participating in a MSDF approved college readiness program for a minimum of two years
- Planning to enter a bachelor's degree program at an accredited higher education institution in the fall directly after your graduation from high school.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency

OCTOBER DEADLINES

2013 Hall of Fame Scholarship
Deadline:  Sept. 30, 2012
This $5,000 scholarship, which is dispersed to the winning student over four years, is based on the student’s leadership roles, civic/community involvement, academic achievement and knowledge and pride of our great state. Students must commit to attending an Oklahoma college or university to be considered, and students must be nominated for this scholarship by teachers, administrators, or any other adult not related to the student.

Miss SWOSU Scholarship
Deadline:  Oct. 6, 2013
Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen Pageant is for girls age 13-17 and is open to any girl in the state of Oklahoma. The winner will win a $500 scholarship to Southwestern Oklahoma State University and many gifts  donated by area businesses. The winner will also advance to the state pageant in June 2012, held in conjunction with the Miss Oklahoma Pageant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The entry deadline for the teen pageant is Oct. 6, 2013. Entry fee is $125.00 . Limited to the first eight to complete their registration packet.

AES Engineers Scholarship
Deadline: Oct. 7, 2012
How to Apply:  Students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to the following question:  What impact will the Natural Disasters of 2010 have on the global economy? How should these events affect future political, business and personal decisions?
Amount of award: $500.00

Arts Awards Scholarship

Oklahoma Heritage Week Video Contest
Deadline:  Oct. 21, 2012

Coca Cola Scholars
Deadline:  Oct. 31, 2012
Fifty U.S. students are designated as Coca-Cola National Scholars and receive awards of $20,000 for college; 200 students are designated as Coca-Cola Regional Scholars and receive awards of $10,000 for college.

Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma Statewide Essay Contest 
Deadline:  Oct. 31, 2012
To apply for this scholarship, 12th graders must write a 250 -350 word essay answering, "What specific sacrifice or sacrifices would  you endure as a partial solution to our country's economic problem?"
Winners could receive $100 to $2,000. Ask your 12th grade English teacher or your counselor for specific information on formatting your essay and required cover sheet information. The deadline is Oct. 31, 2011. Entries must be picked up by the lodge or postmarked by the school no later than this date.

Ron Brown Scholar Program
Deadline Nov. 1, 2012
The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. Current college students are not eligible to apply.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
Deadline: Nov. 1, 2012

FIRE’s Freedom in Academia Essay Contest 2011 Awards
Deadline:  Nov. 5, 2012
One first place winner will be awarded a $5,000 college scholarship.      One second place winner will receive a $2,500 college scholarship.        Five runners-up will each receive a $1000 college scholarship.
Winners will be announced by Dec. 16, 2012.


The Komen College Scholarship Program

Deadline: Nov. 15, 2012
Applications for the $10,000 scholarships will be accepted from Sept. 15 to Nov., 2012. These awards aid college students facing significant financial burdens due to the loss of a parent (or guardian) to breast cancer or their own breast cancer diagnosis at age 25 or younger.
The scholarship awards $10,000 per year (for up to four years) to a student to attend a state university in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. Komen scholarship recipients are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, financial need and demonstrated leadership potential. Scholarship recipients serve as Komen Collegiate Ambassadors and must volunteer their time to breast cancer awareness activities for at least 20 hours per semester. 

 

                                                                                                                              


 

December Scholarships

The AXA Achievement Scholarship
Deadline: Dec. 1, 2012

The AXA Achievement Scholarship offers awards of $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. The scholarships are sponsored by the AXA Foundation, in association with U.S. News & World Report.
The 2012 program will be accepting applications from Sept. 1, 2011 through Dec. 1, 2011. Your application must be one of the first 12,000 submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. CST on Dec. 1, 2011 to be considered. Apply early!


Oklahoma Ready Mix Concrete Association Essay Contest

Essay contest open to all students, ages 16-18, at the beginning of the current school year.Visit the website for more information on themes, rules and judging criteria. 

The Elks National Foundation

Deadline: Dec. 2, 2012
The 2012 Most Valuable Student application is due Dec. 2, 2011. The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2012 competition. Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply. Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks. College students are not eligible to apply. Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify. Male and female students compete separately. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Foundation Scholarship
Deadline: Feb. 1, 2013 or Early Bird Dec. 15, 2012

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Hispanic Scholarship Fund general college scholarships are designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to: graduating high school seniors; community college students; community college transfer students; undergraduate students; graduate students.
